Make Halloween Night Creepy with Special Holiday Lights
The Halloween is just around the corner. Do you have any new plan for the coming holiday day? Besides the special costumes and the pumpkins, try something new or make the holiday alive with some luminaries. If you start to prepare for the lighting right now, there are still a lot of DIY things you can do, for example to make some flickering lights to welcome the trick-or-treaters or any of your visitors. Here I would love to share some Halloween light decor ideas for creating a creepy night atmosphere.
As for the luminaries, it is mainly about creating a special welcoming glow. Try to add some luminaries to inside home along the staircase or outsides in the front yard, etc. We can make such thing out of some everyday objects such as glass jars or paper bags. For a better lighting effect, we can make better use of outdoor lighting. Here are some basic tips for the Halloween lighting.
First, we need to make full use of outdoor lighting system. If there is a landscape lighting system outside your house, try to add some new extra elements to make the house haunting. Drape the sheets in the direct path of the LED lights or use the bulbs with mood casting orange lighting. That will be different. Just remember, to play with the light and shadow so as to make the house mysterious and even terrifying.
Then stick to the classics. As we all know, Jack O Lanterns are always popular decorations during Halloween nights. The lanterns can well light up the porch with eerie illumination. They can even be cool experience to make with friends.
Besides, try to prioritize safety when we play with lights. For those who live in neighborhood, the trick or treat activities are inevitable every year. When installing the lighting along the sidewalk during the Halloween, just make sure the lights will not cause any fire hazard to kids. When the trick and treat activities are over, just turn off all the lights in your home.
As for the specific lights used for the Halloween decor, it is easy as long as you ensure the lights are about spooky. Try to use LED lights this Halloween for they are very flexible lights that can be used in DIY projects or even added to some centerpieces. Make sure the lights can stir up horrible image when the visitors see them at the first sight in the darkness. For example, try to make a lighted head or skull. That is really creepy. Or place some flickering eyes in the front yard. Of course, they are not real ones, but who can keep calm when they see the illuminated eyes staring at them in the night.

3 Different Types of Lighting
When we plan a lighting decor at home, we need to consider what activities that will engage in the specific rooms, the function of rooms and as well the lighting types. There are different types of lighting. In general, lighting sources need to be switched separately for better effect and versatility. Lighting is not just produced via the same light source. For the right mood, proper interior lighting decor and the lighting tasks we expect, we need to choose the right types of lighting. Besides, a wonderful lighting plan requires us to blend different lighting. Now let's have a look at the lighting types.
Ambient lighting, or commonly known as general lighting source, is a type of lighting that can illuminate the whole space of a room. Briefly, it is a light for overall source. The light it radiates is comfortable and the brightness features no annoying glare. The ambient lighting is basic for it can allow us to see and walk about safely, without light focusing into a beam or in particular direction. Ambient lighting source is usually chosen as the primary light of task lighting for some rooms such as laundry room. We usually blend the use of ambient light with other types of lighting sources such as chandeliers, ceiling lights, wall-mounted lighting fixtures, led string lights, track lights. The general lighting can also be used together with lanterns mounted on the outside of the house. For a good lighting plan, we need to use ambient light as the central lighting source in all of the rooms.
Accent lighting is usually a kind of lighting for decoration, indoor or outdoor, for holidays or other special occasions. The accent lighting can create stunning visual effect, so the lighting is more and more popularly used for extra decor at home, office, or garden. Accent lights are such lights that can attract our attention to a certain area the lighting covers, to a sculpture accented by string lights, to a painting illuminated by lights, or to a tree in the garden that are decorated by lights. It is a light for highlighting a partial space or a certain object. Usually, for better visual or aesthetic effect, we need accent lighting as least 3 times as much light on the central point as the general lighting that surrounds it.
Task lighting, as its name suggests, is a lighting source often used for enabling tasks. The lighting helps us better accomplish such jobs as cooking food, playing with friends at night, reading books, doing homework, engaging in some hobbies, and such tasks that need adequate light and brightness. The lighting can be given out from recessed and track lights, under cabinet lights, desk lamps, pendant lights, etc. For better care of our eye, the light should be bright enough and are never the ones that distract glare or shadows.
For better decorating our houses, we need to know the types of the lighting. We need to well use different types of lighting sources for better effect.
