The Halloween is just around the corner. Do you have any new plan for the coming holiday day? Besides the special costumes and the pumpkins, try something new or make the holiday alive with some luminaries. If you start to prepare for the lighting right now, there are still a lot of DIY things you can do, for example to make some flickering lights to welcome the trick-or-treaters or any of your visitors. Here I would love to share some Halloween light decor ideas for creating a creepy night atmosphere.

As for the luminaries, it is mainly about creating a special welcoming glow. Try to add some luminaries to inside home along the staircase or outsides in the front yard, etc. We can make such thing out of some everyday objects such as glass jars or paper bags. For a better lighting effect, we can make better use of outdoor lighting. Here are some basic tips for the Halloween lighting.
eerie lights

First, we need to make full use of outdoor lighting system. If there is a landscape lighting system outside your house, try to add some new extra elements to make the house haunting. Drape the sheets in the direct path of the LED lights or use the bulbs with mood casting orange lighting. That will be different. Just remember, to play with the light and shadow so as to make the house mysterious and even terrifying.

Then stick to the classics. As we all know, Jack O Lanterns are always popular decorations during Halloween nights. The lanterns can well light up the porch with eerie illumination. They can even be cool experience to make with friends.

Besides, try to prioritize safety when we play with lights. For those who live in neighborhood, the trick or treat activities are inevitable every year. When installing the lighting along the sidewalk during the Halloween, just make sure the lights will not cause any fire hazard to kids. When the trick and treat activities are over, just turn off all the lights in your home.

As for the specific lights used for the Halloween decor, it is easy as long as you ensure the lights are about spooky. Try to use LED lights this Halloween for they are very flexible lights that can be used in DIY projects or even added to some centerpieces. Make sure the lights can stir up horrible image when the visitors see them at the first sight in the darkness. For example, try to make a lighted head or skull. That is really creepy. Or place some flickering eyes in the front yard. Of course, they are not real ones, but who can keep calm when they see the illuminated eyes staring at them in the night.
